Job Description

A Production Planner is responsible for creating and managing production schedules to ensure optimal use of resources, materials, and equipment while meeting customer demand and production goals. This role involves analyzing forecasts, optimizing material flow, monitoring inventory levels, resolving production disruptions, and collaborating closely with cross-functional teams. Success in this position requires strong analytical abilities, proficiency with planning software, and comprehensive knowledge of supply chain and manufacturing operations.

Key Responsibilities

Scheduling & Planning:

Develop and maintain detailed production schedules to meet forecasted demand and delivery deadlines, identifying priority products and operations.

Material & Inventory Management:

Manage procurement and inventory of raw materials, components, and finished goods to prevent shortages or excess stock.

Resource Optimization:

Coordinate the allocation of equipment, facilities, and personnel to ensure maximum efficiency and productivity.

Supply Chain Coordination:

Oversee the timely movement of materials throughout the production process and ensure seamless logistics support.

Collaboration:

Partner with sales, customer service, procurement, and production teams to align operational plans with organizational goals.

Performance Monitoring:

Track production progress, analyze variances, monitor costs, and provide detailed status reports to management.

Problem-Solving:

Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve bottlenecks or disruptions to maintain consistent and efficient production operations.

Qualifications

Education: Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.

Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience in manufacturing, logistics, or a similar production planning role.

Industry Knowledge: Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, production workflows, and industry-specific best practices.

Analytical Skills: Skilled in analyzing data, forecasts, and performance metrics to support informed production and planning decisions.

Problem-Solving: Proven ability to identify root causes of issues and implement effective, sustainable solutions to production challenges.

Organization & Time Management: Strong ability to manage multiple priorities, meet tight deadlines, and maintain attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.

Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills for effective collaboration across departments and clear reporting to management.

Technical Proficiency: Proficient in production planning software and Material Requirements Planning (MRP) systems, with the ability to leverage technology for process improvement.
