About the Role
Are you passionate about precision design and reverse engineering? CasterDepot is looking for a CAD Design Engineer to join our growing team remotely. In this role, you'll transform 3D scan data into detailed, production-ready CAD models and technical drawings that support both customer needs and manufacturing excellence.
You'll collaborate with our engineering and production teams to deliver high-quality STEP and DWG files, ensuring every model meets exacting standards for accuracy, manufacturability, and presentation.
What You'll Do
- Convert 3D scan data from our Keyence VL Series CMM scanner (.vld2 files) into accurate CAD models.
- Generate STEP and DWG files for customer deliverables and internal production use.
- Create and maintain customer product drawings and manufacturing-level documentation.
- Apply GD&T and engineering standards to ensure high-quality outputs.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to refine models and drawings.
- Maintain organized CAD records, revisions, and version histories.
- Continuously improve workflows in scanning-to-CAD conversion processes.
What We're Looking For
- Proficiency in 3D CAD software (SolidWorks, Inventor, CATIA, or Siemens NX preferred).
- Experience converting scanned 3D data into parametric CAD models.
- Strong understanding of reverse engineering, mesh data, and GD&T principles.
- Excellent attention to detail, organization, and communication skills.
- Self-motivated and effective in a remote, collaborative environment.
Bonus Skills:
- Experience with Keyence VL Series 3D scanning data.
- Familiarity with Geomagic Design X, PolyWorks, or MeshLab.
- Background in mechanical design, product development, or manufacturing.
