Job description

Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Auto Mechanic to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for diagnosing, maintaining, and repairing a variety of vehicles, ensuring the highest quality of service and customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Inspect vehicle engine and mechanical/electrical components to diagnose issues accurately

    – Conduct thorough inspections of engines, transmissions, electrical systems, and related components to identify potential issues, using both manual and diagnostic methods to ensure accurate troubleshooting.
  • Conduct routine maintenance work (e.g., replacing fluids, lubricating parts) to ensure vehicle functionality

    – Perform scheduled preventive maintenance such as oil and filter changes, fluid replacements, lubrication of moving parts, and adjustments to help maintain peak vehicle performance and prevent costly breakdowns.
  • Repair or replace worn parts and systems, including brakes, suspension, exhaust, steering, and underchassis components

    – Carry out precise repairs or replacements of critical systems, ensuring that safety-sensitive parts like brake assemblies, steering mechanisms, and suspension systems function reliably.
  • Perform accurate diagnostics using computerized tools and equipment

    – Utilize advanced diagnostic scanners, computerized systems, and specialized tools to detect complex mechanical and electrical faults efficiently, ensuring modern vehicles and buses are serviced according to industry standards.
  • Demonstrate strong knowledge in underchassis systems, particularly for heavy-duty vehicles such as buses

    – Apply specialized expertise in handling the underchassis systems of large vehicles, including axles, suspension, drivetrain, and braking systems, ensuring they remain durable and roadworthy.
  • Perform specialized maintenance and repairs on buses, including engine systems, air brakes, and HVAC units

    – Provide expert maintenance services specific to buses, such as tuning and repairing engines, servicing compressed air brake systems, and troubleshooting heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) units for passenger comfort.
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards and regulations specific to public transport vehicles

    – Strictly follow safety protocols and government transport regulations during all repair and maintenance work, ensuring that buses meet operational and passenger safety requirements.
  • Communicate with service advisors and customers regarding vehicle issues, repairs, and timelines

    – Clearly explain diagnostic findings, repair plans, and estimated completion times to service advisors and customers, fostering transparency and building trust.
  • Test drive and inspect buses post-repair to confirm safety and performance

    – Conduct controlled test drives and final inspections of repaired buses to verify that all issues have been resolved, ensuring the vehicle operates smoothly and safely on the road.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safety-compliant work environment

    – Keep the workshop and tools in proper order, adhering to workplace safety protocols to minimize hazards and promote an efficient repair environment.
  • Keep accurate records of diagnostics, repairs, and parts inventory

    – Document all diagnostic results, repairs performed, and parts used in each job, maintaining accurate records to support accountability, inventory management, and customer service.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as an auto mechanic or similar role.
  • ASE certification preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and electronic components of vehicles.
  • Ability to handle various tools and heavy equipment.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; vocational or technical training a plus.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
