Position Overview

The Resident Dentist provides high‑quality dental care under the supervision of the Senior/Attending Dentist. This role is ideal for newly licensed or under-board dentists seeking structured clinical experience in a pediatric‑focused practice. The Resident Dentist supports daily patient care, assists in procedures, and participates in ongoing training to develop clinical competence, communication skills, and patient‑centered care.

Key Responsibilities

Clinical Care

  • Perform basic dental procedures (prophylaxis, restorations, simple extractions, sealants, fluoride application) under supervision.
  • Assist in more complex procedures, including pediatric behavior management and minor surgical cases.
  • Conduct thorough patient assessments, charting, and treatment planning aligned with clinic protocols.
  • Ensure accurate, complete, and timely documentation in patient records.

Patient & Parent Communication

  • Provide clear, friendly, and reassuring explanations to children and parents.
  • Educate families on oral hygiene, preventive care, and post‑treatment instructions.
  • Maintain a warm, professional, and child‑friendly approach at all times.

Clinic Operations

  • Coordinate with dental assistants, front desk, and management to ensure smooth patient flow.
  • Follow infection control, sterilization, and safety protocols consistently.
  • Support outreach, school programs, and clinic events when needed.

Professional Development

  • Engage in continuous learning through mentorship, workshops, and clinical observation.
  • Stay up to date on current dental guidelines, pediatric care standards, and ethical practices.
  • Demonstrate growth in clinical skills, patient management, and independent decision‑making.

Qualifications

Required

  • Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) degree from an accredited institution.
  • Valid PRC license or eligibility
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (or willingness to obtain).
  • Strong communication skills, especially with children and parents.
  • Commitment to patient safety, professionalism, and continuous learning.

Preferred

  • Experience in pediatric dentistry (clinic rotations, internships, or volunteer work).
  • Familiarity with digital charting systems and modern dental equipment.
  • Training in behavior management techniques (Tell‑Show‑Do, desensitization, etc.).
  • Ability to work in a fast‑paced, team‑oriented environment.
