The IT Manager is responsible for overseeing the hospital's IT infrastructure, including software systems and development and hardware assets. The role ensures the stability, security, and efficiency of hospital technology systems, supporting both clinical and administrative operations. The IT Manager leads a team in maintaining and enhancing systems that support patient care, billing, records management, and other hospital functions.

Key Responsibilities:

Software Management:

  • Oversee the implementation, maintenance, and support of hospital information systems (HIS), electronic medical records (EMR/EHR), laboratory information systems (LIS), and other clinical or administrative applications.
  • Collaborate with department heads to assess and address software needs and ensure compliance with DOH and PhilHealth requirements.
  • Coordinate software upgrades, patch management, and system backups.
  • Manage user access, permissions, and cybersecurity for all software platforms.
  • Ensure software vendors and service providers meet SLA (Service Level Agreements).
  • Facilitate training and support for end-users to maximize system efficiency and reduce downtime.

Hardware Management:

  • Supervise the installation, maintenance, and repair of IT hardware including servers, desktops, laptops, printers, biometric systems, and network devices.
  • Manage asset inventory and ensure all IT hardware is accounted for and functioning optimally.
  • Oversee procurement of hardware in coordination with the Finance and Procurement departments.
  • Ensure preventive maintenance schedules are followed for all critical hardware systems (e.g., servers, backup systems, power supplies).
  • Monitor data center/server room environment and ensure compliance with safety and operational standards.

IT Infrastructure & Network:

  • Manage and monitor network performance including LAN/WAN, Wi-Fi, and Internet connections.
  • Oversee data security policies, including firewalls, antivirus systems, and disaster recovery plans.

Leadership and Administration:

  • Lead and develop the IT team; assign tasks, provide mentorship, and conduct performance reviews.
  • Develop and manage the department's annual budget.
  • Create and implement IT policies, procedures, and SOPs tailored to the hospital environment.
  • Prepare regular reports for hospital management regarding IT performance, issues, and improvements.
  • Stay updated on industry trends and emerging technologies relevant to healthcare.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • At least 5 years of relevant experience in IT, preferably in a healthcare or hospital setting.
  • Strong knowledge of hospital software systems, IT infrastructure, networking, and cybersecurity.
  • Familiarity with healthcare regulations and compliance (DOH, PhilHealth, Data Privacy Act).
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Certifications such as ITIL, CompTIA, Microsoft, or Cisco are an advantage.
