About the Role:
We are looking for a detail-oriented and proactive Accounting Assistant to join our team. This role plays a vital part in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of our financial records and supporting day-to-day accounting operations. The ideal candidate is organized, thorough, and able to manage multiple tasks while meeting deadlines.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform data entry and manage daily accounting transactions (accounts payable/receivable, general ledger entries, etc.)
- Process incoming invoices: verify accuracy, rename and organize digital documents, and ensure proper coding before posting
- Reconcile bank statements and other financial accounts
- Maintain accurate and organized financial documentation
- Assist with the preparation and maintenance of financial records and reports
- Support monthly, quarterly, and year-end closing processes
- Perform Belgian withholding tax (WHT) calculations using client-provided templates and data
- Help ensure compliance with company policies, accounting standards, and regulatory requirements
- Assist with audits and budgeting activities as required
- Respond to internal and external inquiries regarding financial data and transactions
- Collaborate with other departments to support overall financial accuracy and reporting
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (preferred but not required)
- 1 to 2 years of experience in accounting, bookkeeping, or a related role
- Basic knowledge or familiarity with Belgian WHT or European accounting standards is a plus
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel
- Experience or familiarity with accounting software such as Xero, Exact Online, ClearFacts, or Odoo
- Strong attention to detail and good organizational and time management skills
- Clear communication skills and a willingness to learn and grow in a supportive team environment
- High level of integrity and professionalism, particularly when handling confidential financial information
