Development Director, Projects

Earlier this year, building on the strong foundation of Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP) as a fund manager, we introduced an optimized CIP Platform, with three platform companies providing services to CIP. To learn more, please refer to the CIP Platform section below.
In our optimized CIP Platform, CIP Terra Technologies – a project delivery company delivering projects from onshore wind, solar PV and battery energy storage systems, to bioenergy, thermal and transmission infrastructure – is currently looking for Development Director to join and lead our office in Manila, Philippines.
Team
The candidate will become part of the CIP Terra Technologies team in Manila. The team currently consists of employees with renewable energy backgrounds, and we are building out the team.

Role
As a senior leader, the Development Director will oversee the full spectrum of business and project development activities in the Philippines while also serving as the administrative head of the local office. This role combines project leadership with people management, corporate compliance, and business development responsibilities. The role will collaborate closely with investment team of CI Growths Market Fund II on deal origination, project execution, and exits to deliver on fund's strategic objectives.

Responsibilities will consist of but are not limited to:
Project leadership

• Manage the full-cycle origination, development, construction and operation of greenfield projects and ensure that execution of the various teams run seamlessly in accomplishing established goals
• Serve as the primary liaison with board or advisory members, partners, investment team, and external stakeholders in communicating project updates, risks, and opportunities clearly and regularly
• Due diligence and analysis of project information (review and extract relevant project information (project planning, permitting, land lease, supplier/EPC contracts, grid connection, financing and PPA/offtake agreements), perform due diligence on this documentation; summaries key technical, commercial and financial risks and opportunities to support CIP financial close / investment committee processes),
• The development, review and optimization of the project business case (business case development, optimization and risk management, discussing with the investment team to form an aligned, factual and realistic case, highlighting deviations between the CIP investment committee business case (considering DEVEX, CAPEX and OPEX) and evolving realities on-the-ground
• Manage third party consultants: manage contracts and deliverables from technical and regulatory/permitting consultancies, appointing new ones as required.

Business development & Country head leadership

• Originate and execute new transactions, including greenfield projects and acquisitions.
• Develop partnerships and agreements with possible partners, developers, OEMs or suppliers, and other stakeholders to market position.
• Develop an effective network with relevant central government departments and facilitate liaison and influencing initiatives for CIP.
• Manage local stakeholder groups/govt. close to project sites
• Deliver analysis and advisory on key renewables policy and regulatory issues, evaluating key project risks and opportunities.

People management

• Build and mentor an effective local team, establishing KPIs and performance metrics to track progress and alignment with global strategies
• Establish clear performance goals and encourage a culture of delivering results, accountability and collaboration.

Administrative head

• Ensure compliance with headquarters requirements for budget forecasts, resource planning, and governance.
• Act as the primary liaison with regional/global offices on corporate reporting and operational standards.

You
We are looking for a motivated individual holding a relevant degree in business, engineering or project management and a minimum of 15 years of experience in a similar role within a private equity, infrastructure investment, power utility, or renewable energy development segment.

We look for the following in a candidate:

• Effective performance in executive leadership or senior project management roles.
• Minimum 15+ years of experience in managing large-scale projects.
• Extensive background in finance, operations, or strategic planning.
• Effective communication, negotiation, and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Advanced degree (MBA, MPA, or equivalent)
