Job Brief

We are seeking a highly skilled Electrical Estimator to prepare accurate and competitive estimates and tenders for electrical components of construction projects in Australia. This role is critical for ensuring project profitability, budget alignment, and compliance with all relevant standards and regulations.

Responsibilities:

  • Cost Forecasting: Prepare comprehensive cost estimates including time, materials, labour, and equipment for electrical works (e.g., wiring, power, lighting, and distribution systems).

  • Project Documentation Review: Analyse blueprints, engineering specifications, and tender documents to determine electrical scope.

  • Quantity Take-Offs: Accurately quantify electrical materials, switchboards, cables, fixtures, and other system components.

  • Cost Estimation: Calculate overall project costs incorporating direct and indirect expenses, margins, and contingencies.

  • Supplier Coordination: Engage with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain quotes, evaluate pricing, and maintain competitive bids.

  • Tender Submission: Compile and submit structured and detailed tender packages, including pricing, methodologies, and technical clarifications.

  • Compliance: Ensure all costings align with Australian electrical codes, including AS/NZS 3000, and WHS regulations.

  • Collaboration: Work closely with project managers, designers, and engineers for a seamless handover and estimation alignment.

  • Budget Monitoring: Track costs throughout project lifecycles to identify variances and advise on corrective actions.

Requirements:

  • Experience: 

    Minimum of 2+ years of proven experience in electrical estimating within construction, infrastructure, energy, or mining projects in Australia.

  • Qualifications: 

    Trade qualification as an electrician OR a degree in Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.

  • Technical Expertise: 

    Sound knowledge of electrical systems, Australian standards, and construction methodologies.

Software Proficiency:

  • Estimating software: SimPRO, CostX, Benchmark, Bluebeam

  • Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel)

  • Previous CAD experience desirable

Education:

  • Certificate III or higher in Electrotechnology OR

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Building and Construction Management, or related discipline (preferred)
