Master Planner

We are seeking a highly skilled Master Planner to lead our organization's inventory planning, demand forecasting, and supply chain coordination efforts. Reporting to the Inventory Management and Warehouse Department Manager, this role is responsible for ensuring optimal stock availability across all sites, efficient warehouse operations, and effective 3PL transport planning.

The Master Planner oversees the Inventory Planning team and collaborates closely with Procurement, Laboratory Operations, Finance, Third-Party Service Providers, Vendors, and other key stakeholders to support business continuity, minimize supply risks, and improve inventory performance.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Demand Forecasting & Planning

• Review historical data, market trends, and seasonality to produce accurate demand forecasts.
• Use forecasting tools/models to align inventory levels with expected demand.
• Coordinate with Laboratory Operations on trends and equipment changes impacting consumption.
• Determine and set optimal stock levels, including safety stock and reorder points.

Strategic Development & Optimization

• Develop and implement effective inventory management strategies (e.g., JIT, ABC analysis, VMI).
• Continuously refine inventory policies to prevent stockouts and minimize excess.
• Identify opportunities to reduce carrying costs, ordering costs, and logistics expenses.
• Manage processes for identifying and disposing of obsolete or excess inventory.

Execution & Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Work with Procurement to plan replenishment and ensure timely ordering and deliveries.
• Collaborate with Laboratory Operations, Procurement, Finance, and Warehouse Operations (3PL).
• Partner with suppliers to improve lead times and ensure product reliability.
• Support Procurement in ensuring vendor quality and consistent supply.

Monitoring, Analysis & Inventory Control

• Track and report internal inventory KPIs.
• Ensure accurate inventory records through regular cycle counts and system monitoring.
• Conduct root cause analysis on variances or performance issues and implement corrections.
• Identify and drive system and process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy.

Transport Planning

• Plan and optimize daily/weekly delivery routes and schedules to reduce transportation costs.
• Monitor vehicle utilization to maximize load capacity.
• Maintain accurate documentation of all transport-related activities.

Third-Party Service Provider (3PL) Management

• Act as primary contact for operational issues at the 3PL site.
• Lead regular performance reviews and continuous improvement discussions with 3PL leadership.
• Oversee cycle counts and reconcile variances between system records and physical stocks.
• Monitor inventory shrinkage and implement controls to minimize losses.
• Generate and analyze 3PL-related operational and performance reports.
• Audit 3PL billing against contract rates and manage adherence to budgeted expenses.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Industrial Engineering, or any Business-related course.
• At least 5 years of experience in inventory planning, demand forecasting, or supply chain analysis.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Proficient in MS Excel, data visualization tools, and ERP/WMS systems. Knowledge in transport analysis, route planning, and delivery scheduling is a plus.
