Role Description

This is a full-time hybrid position as an API Backend Engineer, based in Metro Manila with the flexibility to work from home part of the time. The role involves designing, developing, and maintaining backend APIs to support various applications and integrations. Key responsibilities include optimizing API performance, ensuring security compliance, troubleshooting issues, and collaborating with frontend and DevOps teams to deliver end-to-end solutions. The API Backend Engineer will contribute to process improvements, support system scalability, and ensure seamless communication between systems.

Qualifications

  • Backend development expertise, including proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java, or
  • Strong knowledge of API design and development, including RESTful or GraphQL services.
  • Experience with database systems such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, or MongoDB, and data modeling skills.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud, as well as containerization tools like Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Proficiency in debugging, troubleshooting, and performance optimization of backend systems.
  • Solid understanding of authentication, security principles, and best practices for API protection, such as OAuth and token-based systems.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams (such as frontend developers and DevOps engineers).
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Experience in agile methodologies and tools such as Jira or Trello is a plus.
  • An understanding of integration protocols like SOAP or XML-RPC is beneficial.
