Job Overview:

We are seeking a reliable and dedicated School Janitor to maintain cleanliness and ensure a safe and welcoming environment for students, staff, and visitors. Under the supervision of the Physical Plant and Security Coordinator, the Janitor will perform a variety of cleaning and maintenance tasks to uphold the highest standards of hygiene and facility upkeep within the school.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Daily Cleaning Tasks:
  • Sweep, mop, and vacuum floors in classrooms, hallways, restrooms, and common areas.
  • Dust and wipe down surfaces, including desks, countertops, and windowsills.
  • Clean and sanitize restrooms, replenish supplies, and ensure they are stocked and functional.
  • Empty trash and recycling bins, ensuring proper disposal and handling of waste.
  • Maintenance Duties:
  • Report any maintenance issues or hazards to the Physical Plant and Security Coordinator.
  • Perform minor repairs and touch-ups as needed (e.g., changing light bulbs, fixing minor leaks).
  • Assist with setting up and breaking down for school events and activities.
  • Safety and Security:
  • Ensure that all cleaning chemicals and supplies are stored safely and used according to safety guidelines.
  • Follow all school protocols related to safety and security, including locking doors and reporting suspicious activities.
  • Assist with emergency clean-ups as required.
  • Special Projects:
  • Support special cleaning projects during school breaks or as directed by the Physical Plant and Security Coordinator.
  • Assist with seasonal cleaning tasks such as carpet cleaning or window washing.
  • Communication and Coordination:
  • Communicate effectively with the Physical Plant and Security Coordinator and other staff members.
  • Provide feedback on facility issues and suggest improvements for cleaning practices.
  • Participate in training sessions and meetings as required.

Qualifications:

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent preferred. TESDA Certificate in different skills is an advantage.
  • Experience: Previous experience in a janitorial or custodial role is advantageous, but not required.
  • Skills:
  • Knowledge of cleaning techniques and equipment.
  • Ability to follow instructions and perform tasks with attention to detail.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Basic mechanical skills for minor repairs and maintenance.
  • Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to lift and carry up to [specific weight, e.g., 50 lbs].
  • Capability to stand, walk, and bend for extended periods.
  • Comfortable working with cleaning chemicals and in various indoor environments.

Work Environment:

  • Work is performed primarily indoors within the school facility.
  • May involve occasional exposure to cleaning chemicals, dust, and noise.
