Job Purpose

The Accounting Officer is responsible for overseeing daily financial transactions, ensuring accuracy of sales reports, monitoring inventories, and supporting overall accounting operations. A strong retail background is required to effectively manage store-related transactions, reconciliations, and controls.

Key ResponsibilitiesRetail Sales & Store Accounting

  • Review and verify daily sales reports from retail branches (POS, e-commerce, walk-in sales).
  • Reconcile cash, credit card, e-wallet, and online payment collections.
  • Monitor branch cash deposits and ensure timely remittance.
  • Validate discounts, refunds, voids, and promotional entries.
  • Coordinate with store managers regarding sales variances, shortages, and reporting issues.

Inventory & Cost Monitoring

  • Track movement of stocks (deliveries, transfers, pull-outs, adjustments).
  • Verify inventory reports and work with Warehouse/Operations to investigate variances.
  • Assist in monitoring product cost, margins, and profitability.
  • Participate in periodic inventory counts and reconciliation.

General Accounting

  • Record and post accounting transactions (AP, AR, expenses, journal entries).
  • Prepare monthly reports including sales summary, expenses, and cash flow updates.
  • Assist with BIR compliance and government reporting (books, VAT, withholding tax, etc.).
  • Support month-end and year-end closing activities.
  • Maintain organized and complete accounting records.

Audit & Process Improvement

  • Assist in internal audit reviews for branches and warehouse.
  • Identify inconsistencies in store processes and recommend improvements.
  • Ensure compliance with financial policies and retail operations standards.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related course.
  • 1–3 years accounting experience in retail, FMCG, or retail environment (REQUIRED).
  • Strong knowledge of POS systems, sales reconciliation, and inventory movements.
  • Proficient in Excel and accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Xero, SAP).
  • High attention to detail, accuracy, and integrity.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, multi-branch environment.
  • Good communication and coordination skills.
