Job Summary:

The Shipyard Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of shipyard operations, including vessel repair, maintenance, and fabrication activities. This role ensures that all projects are completed on time, within budget, and in compliance with safety, environmental, and quality standards. The Shipyard Manager leads and coordinates teams across operations, engineering, production, and support departments to achieve operational excellence and customer satisfaction.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage daily shipyard operations, including vessel repair, dry-docking, maintenance, and refitting projects.
  • Plan, schedule, and monitor all ongoing projects to ensure efficient use of manpower, materials, and equipment.
  • Lead and supervise department heads, engineers, foremen, and workforce to ensure high productivity and quality output.
  • Oversee cost control, resource allocation, and adherence to project timelines and budgets.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and maritime regulatory standards.
  • Coordinate with clients, contractors, and suppliers to ensure smooth project execution and resolve operational issues.
  • Implement continuous improvement programs to enhance yard efficiency, safety, and service quality.
  • Prepare operational reports and provide regular updates to senior management.
  • Oversee maintenance of shipyard facilities, equipment, and infrastructure.
  • Foster a culture of teamwork, accountability, and safety within the shipyard.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Marine Engineering, Naval Architecture, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 7–10 years of experience in shipyard operations, with at least 3 years in a managerial or supervisory role.
  • Strong knowledge of vessel repair, maintenance procedures, and shipyard workflows.
  • Excellent leadership, planning, and decision-making skills.
  • Familiarity with maritime safety and environmental regulations.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills for managing teams and liaising with clients and stakeholders.

Preferred:
  • Experience with dry-docking and classification society requirements.
  • Certification in project management or occupational safety is an advantage.
