Psychometrician

A psychometrician's job description involves the development, administration, and interpretation of psychological and educational tests to measure human attributes like intelligence, aptitude, and personality. Key responsibilities include test design and validation, scoring and data analysis, and creating detailed reports for clients, educators, or patients. They work in various settings like schools, hospitals, and research centers to provide data that aids in diagnosis, treatment planning, and improving educational programs. Core responsibilities

• Test administration and scoring: Give and score objective and structured tests, and prepare intake interviews for sessions.
• Test development and validation: Create and refine tests by writing items, developing tables of specifications, conducting item analysis, and standardizing norms.
• Data analysis and reporting: Analyze test results, conduct statistical studies, and write technical manuals or reports to present findings.
• Interpretation and recommendations: Interpret test results to help diagnose conditions, develop intervention plans (like Individualized Education Programs), and make recommendations based on findings.
• Collaboration: Work with psychologists, teachers, counselors, and other professionals to develop assessment strategies and assist in decision-making.
• Research: Conduct research and statistical studies related to psychological testing and mental health.

Required skills and competencies

• A strong understanding of psychology, statistical analysis, and research methods.
• Ability to manage and analyze large datasets, often using specialized software or coding languages like R and Python.
