Position Summary:The Chief Engineer is responsible for managing and supervising all engineering and maintenance operations within the hotel and resort to ensure the property's facilities, systems, and equipment are maintained in top condition. This role oversees preventive maintenance, energy conservation, and compliance with safety standards while leading a skilled technical team to deliver efficient, cost-effective, and uninterrupted operations.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Maintenance & Operations Management
- Oversee daily maintenance and repair of all mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and civil systems.
- Ensure all equipment and facilities operate efficiently and safely.
- Implement and monitor preventive maintenance programs across all departments.
- Respond promptly to maintenance requests and emergency situations.
2. Team Leadership & Supervision
- Lead, train, and supervise the engineering team to maintain high standards of performance.
- Develop work schedules and assign tasks to ensure timely completion.
- Conduct regular inspections and briefings to ensure smooth department operations.
3. Energy Management & Cost Control
- Monitor and control utility consumption (electricity, water, gas) to optimize efficiency.
- Recommend energy-saving initiatives and sustainability programs.
- Maintain maintenance budget and ensure cost-effective use of resources.
4. Safety, Compliance & Documentation
- Ensure compliance with all local building codes, fire safety, and environmental regulations.
- Coordinate with relevant government agencies for inspections and certifications.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, equipment logs, and safety checks.
5. Project Management & Coordination
- Supervise renovation, repair, and installation projects within the property.
- Work closely with contractors and suppliers to ensure quality and timely completion of work.
- Support other departments with technical requirements and maintenance support.
Qualifications:
- Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Civil Engineering (or equivalent technical field).
- Valid professional license or certification preferred.
- Strong technical knowledge in building systems (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical).
- Excellent leadership, problem-solving, and project management skills.
- Knowledgeable in safety protocols, energy management, and preventive maintenance systems.
- Proficient in using maintenance management software and MS Office.
