Financial Commercial Analyst

We are seeking a highly analytical Financial Commercial Analyst to support an Australia-based business where labor is the core cost and revenue driver. This role will play a critical part in analysing the profitability of labor provided to customers across multiple sites, with a strong focus on cost analysis, profit margins, forecasting, and month-end reporting.

This is a hands-on, individual contributor role. The successful candidate will be responsible for deep analysis and reporting rather than managing a team. The role requires advanced Excel and Google Sheets capability, strong commercial judgement, and the ability to translate complex data into clear, actionable insights for the business.

Key Responsibilities:

• Analyze Profit & Loss performance with a primary focus on labor costs and profitability
• Break down profitability, cost drivers, and margins by customer, site, and labor type
• Perform detailed cost analysis and profit percentage calculations for labor provided
• Prepare and deliver regular financial and commercial reports, including month-end reporting
• Build and maintain financial models, forecasts, and scenario analyses
• Analyze large datasets to identify trends, risks, and opportunities
• Support forecasting and planning activities related to labor demand and cost
• Document, standardise, and improve analytical models, formulas, and reporting processes
• Work closely with stakeholders to explain financial insights in a clear, practical manner

Skills and Experience:

• Proven experience in a commercial finance or financial analyst role with strong P&L exposure
• Demonstrated experience analysing labor as a core business cost
• Advanced Excel and Google Sheets skills (including complex formulas and functions)
• Strong analytical mindset with the ability to interpret and explain data-driven insights
• Experience with forecasting, variance analysis, and profitability analysis
• Comfortable working in a hands-on, detail-oriented role

Nice to have:

• Experience using Xero or similar accounting systems
• Exposure to labor hire, staffing, or services-based businesses
• Experience working with Australian or offshore stakeholders

• 20 days of paid time off per year.

• Full-time role: 40 hours per week
• Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM AEST (weekends off)
