Jr. Declarant – Brokerage

1. Documentation & Lodgement

2. Prepare, process, and lodge customs documentation accurately and on time.

3. Review invoices, packing lists, bills of lading, permits, and other shipment documents for completeness and accuracy.

4. Maintain proper filing and documentation of all customs-related records

5. Computation & Compliance

6. Compute duties, taxes, and other applicable fees for all shipments.

7. Ensure compliance with customs laws, rules, and regulations.

8. Stay updated with current customs procedures, policies, and industry trends.

9. Coordination & Communication

10. Coordinate between Client Relationship Management (CRM) and suppliers (shipping lines, airlines, government agencies, etc.) for shipment release and clearance.

11. Support the brokerage team in resolving documentation or shipment issues.

12. Establish and maintain a network of suppliers to facilitate faster release of permits from government agencies.

13. Proactive Research & Strategic Compliance

14. Research changes in customs law and assess their impact on company processes and importers; propose workarounds to prevent adverse effects or identify opportunities for MLA and clients.

15. Research licenses, rules, and procedures from other relevant government agencies that impact client shipments, beyond BOC protocols.

16. Identify improvements or strategic opportunities in brokerage processes to benefit the company and clients.

17. Learning & Development

18. Continuously study and learn the brokerage process, customs procedures, lodgement, and computation.

19. Demonstrate integrity and adherence to procedures, not merely motivated by monetary gain.
20. Pursue growth opportunities, such as customs lawyering or advanced practice in customs compliance.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor's Degree in Custom Administration
• Experience in brokerage and freight forwarding is a plus but not required
• Strong oral and written communication skills
• Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel
• High attention to detail and accuracy
• Can work well under pressure and with minimal supervision
