Job Summary:

The Production Planning & Inventory Control (PPIC) Specialist is responsible for planning and controlling production schedules while managing inventory levels to ensure optimal flow of materials and products. The role requires coordination between production, procurement, warehouse, and sales to ensure timely delivery, cost-efficiency, and effective inventory management.

Key Responsibilities:Production Planning:

  • Develop and maintain detailed production schedules based on sales forecasts, customer orders, and production capacity.
  • Coordinate with production teams to ensure schedules are followed and targets are met.
  • Adjust plans in response to changes in demand, material availability, or production issues.
  • Monitor production performance and analyze variances from the plan.
  • Communicate with procurement and suppliers to ensure timely delivery of raw materials.

Inventory Control:

  • Monitor inventory levels to ensure accurate stock availability for production and order fulfillment.
  • Implement and maintain inventory tracking systems (e.g., ERP, MRP).
  • Conduct regular cycle counts and reconcile inventory discrepancies.
  • Analyze inventory turnover and recommend improvements to reduce excess or obsolete stock.
  • Ensure proper storage, handling, and movement of materials within the warehouse.

Cross-Functional Coordination:

  • Work closely with purchasing, sales, logistics, and warehouse teams to align production and inventory strategies.
  • Support new product introductions and engineering changes by updating planning and inventory records accordingly.
  • Prepare and present reports on production schedules, material availability, and inventory KPIs.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • 2–5 years of experience in production planning and/or inventory control, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
  • Proficiency in ERP/MRP systems (SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, etc.).
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication skills and attention to detail.
  • Experience with lean manufacturing, just-in-time (JIT), or other inventory control methodologies is a plus.
  • Strong Excel skills and familiarity with data analysis tools.
