Cluster Accountant

Key Responsibilities:

1. Financial Reporting

  • Assist the Accounting Manager - Operations in preparing timely monthly financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow reports for each property in the cluster.

  • Consolidate financial information across properties to provide a comprehensive overview to senior management.

2. Accounts Payable and Receivable Management

  • Oversee the accounts payable and receivable functions, ensuring prompt processing of invoices and collection of outstanding accounts.

  • Maintain accurate records and manage cash flow for the cluster portfolio, including bank reconciliations.

3. Budgeting and Forecasting

  • Assist the Accounting Manager in developing annual operating budgets for each property, in collaboration with property managers and stakeholders.

  • Monitor financial performance against budgets and forecasts, providing insightful analysis to support management decision-making.

4. General Ledger Maintenance

  • Ensure the integrity of financial data by maintaining accurate and organized general ledger accounts.

  • Review and assist in month-end closing activities to ensure timely and accurate reporting.

5. Compliance and Internal Controls

  • Ensure compliance with local and federal regulations, accounting standards, and company policies.

  • Implement and maintain strong internal controls to safeguard company assets and minimize financial risk.

6. Operational Analysis

  • Analyze financial data to identify trends, variances, and operational efficiencies across the cluster.

  • Provide recommendations to enhance financial performance and operational effectiveness.

7. Collaboration and Communication

  • Work closely with property managers and operational teams to communicate financial performance and align on business objectives.

  • Assist in training and supporting property staff in financial procedures and reporting requirements.

8. System and Process Optimization

  • Leverage accounting software and property management systems to improve financial processes and reporting accuracy.

  • Participate in the implementation of new technologies or systems as needed.

Qualifications:

Education:

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA designation is preferred.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of accounting experience, ideally within the property management or real estate sector.

Skills:

  • Proficient in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.

  • Solid understanding of GAAP and accounting principles.

Personal Attributes:

  • Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills, with a keen eye for detail.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex financial information clearly.

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
