Exin Therapeutics is a San Francisco–based biotech company building its experimental hub in Manila. We are developing therapies to restore balance in brain circuits disrupted in neurological and psychiatric disorders, including epilepsy, autism, and Parkinson's disease. We aim to transform the treatment landscape for diseases of the central nervous system.
Our Manila lab will be the cornerstone of Exin's experimental efforts, enabling large-scale in vivo neuroscience and data generation to power our discovery platform. We are seeking an neuroengineer who will design, build, and maintain systems that power Exin's neuroscience experiments. From behavior setups to electrophysiology hardware, this role is about enabling cutting-edge science with robust engineering solutions.
Role & Responsibilities
As Exin's first Neuroengineer, you will:
- Design and build experimental rigs for behavioral neuroscience, electrophysiology, and imaging.
- Develop custom hardware/software solutions to support experimental automation and data collection.
- Integrate off-the-shelf systems with custom modifications (e.g., cameras, sensors, microcontrollers).
- Maintain and troubleshoot lab hardware to ensure smooth experimental workflows.
- Collaborate closely with neuroscientists to translate research needs into functional, reliable setups.
- Document builds, maintain CAD files and wiring diagrams, and train lab members in safe/effective use of rigs.
- Stay on top of new tools and technologies to enhance experimental efficiency.
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in engineering (mechanical, electrical, biomedical, or related).
- Hands-on experience designing and building hardware for research or industrial applications.
- Programming experience in C++ (e.g. Arduino), Python, or MATLAB for device control and data acquisition.
- Strong skills in CAD (e.g., Blender, SolidWorks), prototyping and experience with electronics, microcontrollers (Arduino, Raspberry Pi), and sensors.
- Comfortable with basic machining and 3D printing.
- Excellent troubleshooting skills and ability to work independently.
- Good communication skills in English
Preferred:
- Knowledge of optics, cameras, or imaging systems.
- Familiarity with experimental automation and closed-loop systems.
- Startup or fast-paced R&D experience.
Why Join Us?
- Build the rigs that will drive Exin's discovery engine from the ground up.
- Be the key engineer in a fast-growing, mission-driven startup.
- Competitive compensation.
- Help create therapies that could transform millions of lives.
