Job Summary

The Head Technician is responsible for leading a team of technicians in maintaining, repairing, and optimizing equipment, machinery, or systems within the organization. This role involves supervising daily operations, delegating tasks, providing technical expertise, and ensuring that work is performed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with company standards. The Head Technician also collaborates with engineers and management to improve processes, reduce downtime, and implement preventive maintenance strategies.


Key Responsibilities
  • Plan, assign, and monitor daily maintenance and repair tasks to ensure timely completion.
  • Perform advanced troubleshooting, diagnostics, and repairs on mechanical, electrical, or technical systems.
  • Conduct inspections and preventive maintenance to minimize breakdowns and downtime.
  • Review and approve technical reports, service logs, and maintenance documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards, company policies, and regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with engineers, supervisors, and management to improve equipment performance and operational efficiency.
  • Recommend and implement improvements in maintenance processes and procedures.
  • Order, monitor, and manage spare parts, tools, and materials required for maintenance work.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for escalated technical issues and emergencies.

People Management

  • Lead, supervise, and coordinate a team of technicians to ensure tasks are performed efficiently and accurately.
  • Assign and delegate daily responsibilities based on skills, workload, and project priorities.
  • Provide training, coaching, and mentorship to junior technicians to build technical knowledge and improve performance.
  • Monitor individual and team performance, conduct evaluations, and give constructive feedback.
  • Promote teamwork, collaboration, and a positive work environment.
  • Resolve conflicts, address employee concerns, and maintain discipline in line with company policies.
  • Ensure all team members comply with workplace safety standards and best practices.

Qualifications
  • Diploma, degree, or certification in Mechanical, Electrical, or related technical field.
  • At least 3–5 years of proven experience as a Senior Technician, Head Technician, or similar leadership role.
  • Strong technical knowledge in troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of machinery/equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics.
  • Leadership skills with the ability to train, mentor, and motivate a technical team.
  • Excellent problem-solving, decision-making, and organizational skills.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills for coordinating with staff and management.
  • Strong commitment to workplace safety and adherence to regulatory standards.
  • Physically fit and able to perform hands-on technical work when required.
  • Willingness to work shifts, weekends, or on-call schedules, depending on operational needs.
