
Hydrology Specialist

Job Purpose
Deliver independent hydrology and hydraulics reviews and studies for utility-scale solar and site development projects. Produce drainage and flood assessments that meet Philippine regulatory standards and client requirements, integrating outcomes with geotechnical and structural evaluations.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct watershed delineation and rainfall–runoff modeling (e.g., HEC-HMS); perform 1D/2D flood routing and overland flow analysis (HEC-RAS).
- Assemble design storms using PAGASA RIDF data; develop design hyetographs and flood maps; document assumptions, losses, and return periods.
- Review contractor reports for methodology, calibration/validation, freeboard, and sensitivity; ensure alignment with DPWH drainage and flood control standards.
- Coordinate with Geotechnical and Structural teams on culverts, channels, scour protection, and platform drainage; issue redlines and acceptance criteria.
- Prepare Design Review Reports (DRRs), calculation notes, GIS layers/figures, and closure logs; participate in scheduled site walkdowns.
Key Deliverables
- Hydrology & Flood Study Report (including models, maps, data sources, and assumptions).
- Drainage and flood mitigation memo with options and recommendations.
- Red-lined drawings and a Design Review Report (DRR) with issue closure tracking.
Qualifications
Education & License:
- PRC-licensed Civil Engineer (required)
- MS in Water Resources or Hydraulics (preferred)
Experience:
- 3–8 years in hydrology/hydraulics for infrastructure or energy projects
- Demonstrated experience in GIS/CAD integration
Technical Tools:
- Free:
HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS (1D/2D), QGIS
- Paid (as needed):
ArcGIS, Civil 3D or equivalent, Global Mapper (optional)
Standards & Data Familiarity:
- PAGASA RIDF data usage
- DPWH drainage/flood control guidelines
- Coordination with NSCP-driven structural interfaces
Soft Skills:
- Strong technical writing
- Reproducible modeling
- Effective stakeholder coordination
- Risk-based recommendations
Performance Metrics
- Timely delivery of DRRs and model packages with zero avoidable rework
- Low peer-review defect rate and high reproducibility of models/figures
- Efficient closure of hydrology findings before Issued for Construction (IFC)
- Positive client feedback on clarity and actionability of hydrology outputs
