The Security Engineering function implements and maintains technical security controls across platforms and infrastructure. It supports secure architecture, threat detection, vulnerability management, and incident response in alignment with BSP Circular 982. The function also manages user access, reviews tools, tests controls, promotes security awareness, and optimizes security rules and policies based on best practices.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Cloud & Infrastructure Security

  • Implement and monitor technical controls across AWS/GCP, including IAM, encryption, logging, and VPC segmentation.
  • Use tools like CSPM, CMDB, and CWPP to automate asset discovery and enforce configuration baselines.
  • Maintain firewalls and enforce least privilege network design.

Secure DevOps & Automation

  • Integrate SAST, DAST, SCA, and secret scanning into CI/CD workflows.
  • Use Terraform, Sentinel, and OPA to implement security-as-code and policy-as-code controls.
  • Automate vulnerability remediation timelines to meet BSP expectations.

Threat Detection & Incident Engineering

  • Build SIEM alerting rules and automate playbooks for incident triage and response (e.g., SentinelOne, Splunk).
  • Conduct threat hunting using threat intel feeds and IOCs.
  • Assist in digital forensic evidence gathering and timeline reconstruction during security events.

Application & API Security

  • Conduct API testing, fuzzing, and security validations on onboarding, KYC, and payment services.
  • Enforce secure coding practices with development teams.

Risk & Compliance Implementation

  • Help meet BSP compliance by aligning hardening configurations and control evidence.
  • Conduct vulnerability scans and penetration testing for KYC/AML services.
  • Support audit walkthroughs and technical evidence delivery.

Third-Party & Vendor Security

  • Automate due diligence checks on vendors and validate SOC 2/ISO 27001 compliance.
  • Review and test security of third-party APIs and integrations.

Other tasks as assigned by his/her immediate supervisor

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or Security, Cybersecurity, Computer Science, or equivalent.
  • 5 - 7 years in infrastructure/app security, ideally in fintech, banking, or SaaS environments.
  • Deep technical understanding of AWS/GCP, Kubernetes, IAM, Terraform, WAFs, encryption, scripting (Python, Bash, Go) for automation and tooling,, security architecture, security engineering, security operations, SIEM/SOAR tools, risk management.
  • Strong familiarity with BSP, DPA,PCI-DSS, ISO 27001, OWASP, MITRE ATT&CK.
