Role Overview:

The Primary Care Aide provides essential support to healthcare professionals in delivering safe, efficient, and compassionate care at TeleCure Medical and Diagnostic Center. The role includes assisting in patient assessment, taking vital signs, conducting ECG and Point-of-Care Testing (POCT), and supporting minor procedures in a primary care setting. The Primary Care Aide also ensures proper cleaning, disinfection, and sterilization of instruments, helps maintain an organized work environment, and assists in basic operational duties to uphold clinical quality and patient safety.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Patient Care and Clinical Support:

  • Assist the nurse and midwife in providing quality patient care in the primary care setting.
  • Perform and record vital signs, anthropometric measurements, and health screening procedures accurately.
  • Conduct electrocardiogram (ECG) testing, ensuring proper documentation and timely release of results.
  • Perform Point-of-Care Testing (POCT) such as blood glucose, urinalysis, pregnancy, and cholesterol screening under supervision.
  • Assist in minor procedures such as wound care, dressing changes, nebulization, and injection preparation under the supervision of licensed professionals.
  • Prepare and guide patients for examinations and procedures, ensuring comfort, privacy, and safety.
  • Provide basic health reminders (e.g., medication adherence, vaccination schedules, lifestyle advice) under supervision.
  • Assist in first aid procedures only when instructed by or under the supervision of a trained nurse or healthcare professional.

Infection Control, Sterilization, and Safety:

  • Clean, disinfect, and sterilize medical instruments and reusable equipment according to infection control standards.
  • Maintain proper storage, labeling, and segregation of sterile and non-sterile items.
  • Ensure proper segregation and disposal of medical and general waste in compliance with DOH and DENR regulations.
  • Monitor and record room and vaccine storage temperatures in accordance with cold chain and infection prevention guidelines.
  • Maintain clinic cleanliness and sanitation, ensuring that patient care areas and workstations are clean, orderly, and safe.
  • Participate in emergency preparedness and disaster response drills and assist during emergencies as directed.

Clinic Operations and Equipment Maintenance:

  • Operate, clean, and maintain devices such as ECG machines, POCT instruments, sphygmomanometers, and weighing scales.
  • Assist in inventory management, stock monitoring, and replenishment of medical and clinic supplies.
  • Report equipment concerns or maintenance needs promptly to supervising staff.

Administrative and Coordination Support:

  • Record health screening and POCT results in the internal health database or designated logbooks.
  • Coordinate with the Medical Records Team for the documentation and release of patient results.
  • Handle patient information and diagnostic results with strict confidentiality, following the Data Privacy Act of 2012.
  • Facilitate clear communication between patients and healthcare providers to ensure smooth operations.

Professional Conduct and Compliance:

  • Observe infection control, safety, and data privacy standards at all times.
  • Participate in safety inspections, internal audits, and quality assurance activities as directed.
  • Communicate with patients and coworkers in a courteous, respectful, and professional manner.
  • Adhere to all company policies, Code of Conduct, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

Professional Development:

  • Participate in continuing education, skills training, and professional development relevant to primary care and patient assistance.
  • Support improvement initiatives related to patient care, infection control, and operational efficiency.

Special Assignments:

  • May be assigned to assist in Health Caravans, outreach programs, or community-based health activities as needed.
  • Perform other related tasks as assigned by management to support the clinic's mission and operational goals.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Nursing, Midwifery, or any allied health-related field, or Senior High School graduate with TESDA NC II Caregiving certification.
  • Experience: At least six (6) months to one (1) year of experience in a healthcare or clinical setting preferred.
  • Skills and Competencies: Proficient in taking vital signs, ECG, POCT, and assisting in clinical procedures.
  • Knowledgeable in sterilization, infection control, and waste management.
  • Familiar with inventory and temperature monitoring.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Compassionate, attentive, and committed to patient safety and confidentiality.
