Key Responsibilities

  • System Design & Engineering:
  • Design electrical systems for rooftop, ground-mounted, and utility-scale solar PV projects.
  • Develop single-line diagrams, wiring schematics, and cable layouts.
  • Specify and size electrical components such as inverters, transformers, switchgear, and protection devices.
  • Technical Analysis & Modeling:
  • Perform load flow, short-circuit, and protection coordination studies.
  • Conduct energy yield assessments and optimize system performance using software such as PVsyst, Helioscope, or similar tools.
  • Ensure compliance with grid codes, IEC, IEEE, NEC, and local standards.
  • Project Execution:
  • Support project management teams during procurement, construction, and commissioning.
  • Review vendor drawings and submittals for electrical components.
  • Conduct site inspections and troubleshoot technical issues.
  • Documentation & Compliance:
  • Prepare technical documentation, including design reports, BOQs, and as-built drawings.
  • Ensure all designs meet safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
  • Collaboration & Coordination:
  • Work closely with civil, mechanical, and structural engineers to ensure integrated system design.
  • Interface with utility companies, EPC contractors, and clients to facilitate approvals and interconnections.

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (Master's preferred).
  • Experience: 3–8 years of experience in electrical design and solar PV systems (commercial, industrial, or utility-scale).
  • Certifications (preferred):
  • Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) or equivalent.
  • NABCEP PV Installation Professional or Design Specialist certification.
  • Technical Skills:
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, ETAP, PVsyst, Helioscope, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong understanding of NEC, IEEE, IEC, and local electrical codes.
  • Knowledge of SCADA, protection relays, and grid-tied inverter systems.
  • Soft Skills:
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
