Key Responsibilities
- System Design & Engineering:
- Design electrical systems for rooftop, ground-mounted, and utility-scale solar PV projects.
- Develop single-line diagrams, wiring schematics, and cable layouts.
- Specify and size electrical components such as inverters, transformers, switchgear, and protection devices.
- Technical Analysis & Modeling:
- Perform load flow, short-circuit, and protection coordination studies.
- Conduct energy yield assessments and optimize system performance using software such as PVsyst, Helioscope, or similar tools.
- Ensure compliance with grid codes, IEC, IEEE, NEC, and local standards.
- Project Execution:
- Support project management teams during procurement, construction, and commissioning.
- Review vendor drawings and submittals for electrical components.
- Conduct site inspections and troubleshoot technical issues.
- Documentation & Compliance:
- Prepare technical documentation, including design reports, BOQs, and as-built drawings.
- Ensure all designs meet safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
- Collaboration & Coordination:
- Work closely with civil, mechanical, and structural engineers to ensure integrated system design.
- Interface with utility companies, EPC contractors, and clients to facilitate approvals and interconnections.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (Master's preferred).
- Experience: 3–8 years of experience in electrical design and solar PV systems (commercial, industrial, or utility-scale).
- Certifications (preferred):
- Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) or equivalent.
- NABCEP PV Installation Professional or Design Specialist certification.
- Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, ETAP, PVsyst, Helioscope, and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong understanding of NEC, IEEE, IEC, and local electrical codes.
- Knowledge of SCADA, protection relays, and grid-tied inverter systems.
- Soft Skills:
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
