Accounting Supervisor Responsibilities

  • Supervise day-to-day operational accounting functions, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and compliance with policies and standards.
  • Oversee timely and accurate month-end and year-end closing processes.
  • Review and approve journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial reports prepared by accounting staff.
  • Collaborate with operations, supply chain, and production teams to support financial tracking, analysis, and reporting.
  • Monitor and maintain internal controls to ensure compliance with company policies and accounting regulations.
  • Assist in developing and implementing accounting policies and operational procedures.
  • Lead and mentor the accounting team, including training, coaching, and conducting performance evaluations.
  • Coordinate with internal and external auditors during financial and inventory audits, ensuring the availability of accurate documentation.
  • Identify and implement opportunities for automation, process improvement, and cost efficiencies within accounting operations.
  • Support the preparation of budgets, forecasts, and variance analyses related to operational activities.
  • Analyze financial data to identify trends, variances, and areas for improvement in financial performance.
  • Ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial reporting, including monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
  • Monitor and reconcile general ledger accounts in accordance with accounting principles.
  • Stay informed of changes in accounting standards and ensure timely compliance.

Accounting Supervisor Required Skills

  • Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and operational accounting standards.
  • In-depth knowledge of financial reporting, financial analysis, and relevant tax and compliance regulations.
  • Proficient in ERP systems (e.g., SAP) and Microsoft Excel, with strong experience in accounting software.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret and resolve complex financial data and discrepancies.
  • Demonstrated leadership and team management capabilities, including training, supervision, and motivation of staff.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration across departments and with stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple projects, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • High attention to detail and strong organizational skills to ensure accuracy and efficiency in accounting operations.
  • Ability to adapt to evolving accounting standards and regulatory changes.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (required).
  • 5+ years of accounting experience, including at least 1 to 2 years in a supervisory or lead role.
