Oracle Database Administrator

Senior Database Administrator position will involve providing technical expertise, development
and support for integration of data, backups, recovery and performance stability of database
systems primarily for Oracle environment. Will involve support of several applications across
Chubb of both non-production & production database environments. Strong communication
skills is a crucial requirement and key as this position will involve working on several high level
projects with teams & management across the board.

Will be expected to maintain a strong level of IT industry knowledge and industry trends and
how they impact the Chubb environment and relevant best practices on DBA operations. The
role encompasses both application & system DBA responsibilities.

Oracle Primary Job Responsibilities:

• Support Oracle systems which are currently on multiple platforms AIX (primarily), Solaris,
Windows.

• Chubb DBA also support Oracle on an Exadata appliance for PeopleSoft.

• Provide technical support for Oracle Engineered platforms, RAC.

• Knowledge of Oracle Database Encryption which is currently implemented for PeopleSoft on
Engineered system.

• Wallet backup, updates, maintenance.

• Create & Maintain scripts for automating database maintenance processes.

• Support, configure, maintain OEM performance monitoring tool, including upgrades.

• Support DBMS upgrade activites.

• Knowledge of Rubrik which is the backup tool used at Chubb across all DBMS systems a
plus.

• Strong handle on RMAN for backup & recovery.

• Oracle password authentication using Kerberos is a strategic direction – therefore preferred.

• Monitor, support and provide technical expertise on database & application performance
tuning areas.

• Generate, maintain reports for Audit & Compliance as per requirements.

• Participate in Team meetings.

• Handle on-call (on rotational basis) and weekend work.

• Good understanding of the DBMS technology and how to apply to fit the needs of business
partners when called upon in the role of subject matter expert.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

• Self-driven with the ability to manage workload without direct supervision.

Qualifications - External

• Educational requirements – college degree in Computer Science or Computer Technology
preferred

• Required skills, knowledge, abilities, etc.

• Rubrik knowledge preferred.

• Oracle 19 Knowledge preferred.

• Experience with RMAN preferred

• Experience with Oracle RAC, ASM and Advanced Security - preferred

• Oracle Certifications – a plus
