Job Title: Head of Technical - Design Department

1. Leadership

• Provide strategic vision, direction, and motivation to the Technical and Design Department.
• Lead by example, promoting a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement across teams.
• Ensure alignment between design objectives, project goals, and overall company strategy.

2. Team Management

• Directly supervise senior designers, engineers, and technical leads.
• Manage workload distribution across multiple projects, ensuring efficiency and high-quality output.
• Support career development and succession planning through mentoring, coaching, and performance management.

3. Design Oversight

• Oversee the entire design process for facade and curtain wall projects, from concept to execution.
• Approve critical design decisions, ensuring compliance with architectural intent, client requirements, industry standards, and local building codes.
• Chair design reviews and provide final authorization for technical solutions.

4. Technical Expertise

• Act as the organization's subject-matter expert in glass, aluminum, and curtain wall systems, including structural, thermal, acoustic, and waterproofing performance.
• Provide advanced technical guidance on system selection, design optimization, and engineering analysis.
• Resolve complex technical and construction challenges with innovative, practical, and cost-effective solutions.

5. Collaboration

• Work closely with architects, project managers, contractors, and consultants to ensure smooth integration of facade systems into project workflows.
• Engage with key clients and stakeholders to establish trust and maintain long-term relationships.
• Represent the company in technical discussions, negotiations, and design presentations.

6. Innovation

• Drive continuous improvement by implementing advanced technologies (BIM, parametric design, digital fabrication tools).
• Champion the use of sustainable, energy-efficient materials and methods in facade and curtain wall design.
• Introduce and standardize best practices to keep the company competitive in the market.

7. Quality Assurance

• Establish and enforce department-wide quality control procedures for technical and design outputs.
• Ensure all design documentation is accurate, constructible, and compliant with project and industry standards.
• Conduct regular audits to maintain technical excellence across all projects.

8. Risk Management

• Anticipate and address potential technical and operational risks in facade and curtain wall projects.
• Develop strategic mitigation plans to minimize delays, cost overruns, and design conflicts.
• Ensure that risk management practices are integrated into daily operations.

9. Documentation

• Oversee the preparation and final approval of all technical documentation including shop drawings, engineering reports, specifications, and compliance certificates.
• Ensure timely submission of deliverables in line with project schedules.

10. Training & Development

• Lead knowledge-sharing initiatives, workshops, and training sessions for the Technical & Design Department.
• Mentor future leaders within the team, building strong technical expertise and leadership capabilities.
• Create a culture of learning to keep the department updated on emerging facade technologies and design trends.

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Architecture, or a related field (Master's degree is an advantage).
• Minimum 5 years above of experience in facade and curtain wall design, engineering, and project management.
• Proven leadership experience in managing teams and delivering large-scale facade projects.
• Strong knowledge of glass and aluminum systems, curtain wall engineering, and related building codes.
• Proficiency in relevant software (AutoCAD, Revit/BIM, Rhino, SketchUp, STAAD or other facade modeling tools).
• Excellent communication, coordination, and leadership skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines under pressure.
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities with a focus on practical and cost-effective solutions.
