Job Description

• Design and develop business and consumer applications targeted to POS terminals on the Android platform using Java, Javascript, and Kotlin

• Providing subject matter expertise on the design of applications and libraries.

• Develop specifications for terminal applications.

• Mentor other software developers on Android development.

• Be aware of Android technology changes/practices and disseminate information to peers.

• Work within an Agile project methodology.

• Work within aggressive project deadlines.

• Take ownership of unit testing and the quality/security of code developed.

• Applies a full understanding of procedures, methodology and application standards to include Payment Card Industry (PCI) security compliance.

• Assists with on-the-job training and provides guidance to other software engineers.

• Provide Android subject matter knowledge, expertise, and recommendations to inform leadership decisions.

Emergency Change Management

• Evaluate, coordinate, and execute emergency changes with minimal disruption to services.

• Participate in emergency change control meetings, providing technical insight and risk assessments.

• Ensure emergency changes follow proper documentation and approval workflows.

Incident Management

• Serve as a technical point of contact during high-priority incidents, ensuring timely communication and resolution.

•Drive the incident response process, working closely with engineering and support teams to restore services rapidly.

• Maintain accurate incident records and escalation paths in compliance with ITIL best practices.

Post-Mortem and Root Cause Analysis

• Lead and participate in post-incident reviews to identify root causes and areas for improvement.

• Prepare comprehensive post-mortem reports, including timelines, impact analysis, remediation actions, and lessons learned.

• Track and ensure completion of corrective actions to prevent recurrence.

SLA and Operational Compliance

• Monitor system and service performance to ensure SLAs are consistently met or exceeded.

• Collaborate with stakeholders to establish realistic SLAs and operational expectations.

• Provide regular reporting and metrics to leadership on incident trends, SLA performance, and system reliability.

Working Conditions

• Participation in on-call rotation may be required.

• Occasional evening or weekend work for emergency change implementations or incident management.

• Be on call 24/7 if required.

Qualifications

• 5 years of professional software development

• 5 years Android Java development experience

• 3 years Javascript development experience

• 3 years of commercially deployed Android applications

• Experience with Android Studio and Android Development Tools

Preferred Qualifications

• Payments industry experience a plus

• Hybrid Android development experience a plus

• C development experience a plus

• Experience with payment applications or transaction processing a plus

• Experience with Git a plus

• Experience with Kotlin and IntelliJ is a plus
