Junior SOC Analyst – Job Description

A Junior Security Operations Center (SOC) Analyst is responsible for monitoring, detecting, analyzing, and responding to cybersecurity incidents within an organization's IT environment. They work under the guidance of senior analysts to protect company systems and data from threats.

Key Responsibilities

Monitoring and Detection

  • Monitor security alerts, logs, and dashboards from SIEM (Security Information and Event Management) tools like Splunk, QRadar, or Microsoft Sentinel.
  • Identify potential security incidents or suspicious activities in real time.
  • Escalate validated incidents to Level 2/3 SOC Analysts.

Incident Analysis & Response

  • Perform initial triage and investigation of alerts.
  • Gather and correlate relevant data to determine the nature and impact of a potential threat.
  • Document and report incidents following standard procedures.
  • Support containment, eradication, and recovery steps under supervision

Threat Intelligence

  • Stay updated on current cybersecurity threats, vulnerabilities, and exploits.
  • Contribute to threat intelligence feeds and update detection rules as directed.

Reporting & Documentation

  • Maintain accurate records of security incidents, alerts, and responses.
  • Prepare daily, weekly, or monthly reports for management or compliance.

Continuous Improvement

  • Participate in training sessions and tabletop exercises.
  • Suggest improvements for detection and response workflows.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or related field.
  • At least 2 years experience
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Attention to detail and accuracy
  • Good communication and teamwork

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: Php35, Php45,000.00 per month
