I. JOB SUMMARY

The Reinsurance Accounting Manager is responsible for overseeing the financial accounting and reporting functions related to reinsurance operations for non-life insurance products. This role ensures the accurate recording, reconciliation, and reporting of reinsurance transactions while maintaining full compliance with regulatory requirements and applicable accounting standards.

II. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversee month-end, quarter-end, and year-end reinsurance accounting processes, including premium calculations, claims recoveries, and commission adjustments.
  • Manage reinsurance receivable and payable balances, including the reinsurance share on losses. Monitor compliance with Premium Payment Warranty (PPW) terms for both Assumed and Ceded Facultative business.
  • Handle accounting for various reinsurance arrangements, such as facultative, quota share, surplus, excess of loss, and catastrophe covers.
  • Prepare Statements of Account for Inward and Outward Reinsurance (Due From and Due To), as well as Reinsurance Recoverables on paid losses and expenses.
  • Monitor and collect facultative premiums from brokers and ceding companies.
  • Ensure proper accounting treatment and documentation for retrocession arrangements.
  • Perform accurate and timely month-end closing activities and financial reporting.
  • Prepare ageing reports for Due From, Due To, and Reinsurance Recoverable accounts; develop and implement collection procedures for overdue accounts.
  • Monitor the financial condition of ceding companies to assess credit and collection risk.
  • Coordinate with external auditors and regulatory examiners during audits and compliance reviews.

III. QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in Accountancy, Managerial Accounting, or Finance. A master's degree or relevant professional certification (e.g., CPA, CFA) is an advantage.
  • Minimum of 7–10 years of progressive experience in insurance or reinsurance accounting.
  • Strong knowledge of insurance accounting principles and standards.
  • Solid understanding of reinsurance contracts, structures, and industry practices.
  • Familiarity with local insurance regulatory frameworks and reporting requirements.

IV. WORK SCHEDULE

Mondays to Fridays, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM

(Extensions may be required depending on urgency or deadlines.)
