The Radiology Nurse performs general nursing duties and assists patients undergoing diagnostic procedures in the Radiology Department.

  • Responsible for patient care in the department.

  • Double checks the identification of the patient against the request  provided;

  • Explains the prescribed procedure to the patient (including what will be done and what is expected of them) prior to securing the consent of the patient.

  • Assesses and assists patients undergoing diagnostic procedures in the radiology department

  • Performs insertion of intravenous line and makes sure of its patency before injecting the dye

  • Prepares automatic injector with proper contrast for the procedure and performs contrast administration in a safe manner.

  • Assists in sedating patients for CT Scan or MRI executed by an anesthesiologist

  • Positions and transfers patient comfortably.

  • Maintains completeness and order of Emergency Crash Cart and monitors usage of emergency drugs

  • Maintains confidentiality of all patient information according to government guidelines and regulations.

  • Acts as a code team member during emergency situations.

Performs other duties as assigned or requested 

Qualifications

  • Graduate of Bachelor of Science in Nursing

  • Professional Regulations Commission (PRC) license

  • Preferably with IV Therapy Certification

  • Completed  Basic Life Support and Standard First Aid Training Program

  • Knowledgeable of the routines done in the radiology department and the basic controls and operation of machines.
