A PDI head should have experience in a similar role, be confident and resilient, and have the ability to build rapport with customers.

A PDI (pre-delivery inspection) head manages the pre-delivery inspection process for new vehicles, including:

  • Leading a team: Managing a team that performs PDIs, including test drives, exterior inspections, and identifying damage
  • Ensuring quality: Ensuring vehicles meet quality standards and are cleaned and detailed to high standards
  • Developing processes: Improving processes to ensure effective quality control
  • Generating reports: Creating reports and identifying trends for issues found during PDIs
  • Communicating: Sharing quality issues with the service department and technical team
  • Maintaining records: Keeping accurate records of all PDIs and new vehicle arrivals
  • Coordinating: Working with the sales, delivery, and service teams to meet their needs
  • Following compliance standards: Ensuring vehicles meet internal and external compliance standards
  • Scheduling: Scheduling the team to meet delivery deadlines
  • Managing staff: Hiring, training, motivating, and monitoring the performance of the PDI staff
  • Enforcing safety: Ensuring safety requirements and regulations are enforced
  • Forecasting: Forecasting goals and objectives for the PDI department.

Experience:

  • Automotive: 3 years (Preferred)
  • Managerial (Automotive): 3 years (Preferred)

License/Certification:
