Wintel Lead

The Wintel Lead will be responsible for leading and managing the Windows infrastructure environment to ensure optimal performance, reliability, and scalability. This role oversees a team of system administrators and provides expert-level support, implementation, and maintenance of Windows-based systems, servers, and services across on-premise and virtualized environments.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Lead the Wintel operations team in maintaining and supporting Windows Server environments (physical and virtual).
• Oversee installation, configuration, and administration of Windows Server 2016/2019/2022, including Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and Group Policy.
• Manage and monitor VMware or Hyper-V infrastructure for server virtualization and high availability.
• Implement and maintain system performance monitoring, patch management, and backup/recovery solutions.
• Ensure IT infrastructure security, compliance, and adherence to organizational standards.
• Handle L3/L4 escalations, perform root cause analysis, and drive resolution for complex incidents.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (network, storage, security, and applications) to ensure seamless IT operations.
• Develop and maintain documentation, standard operating procedures, and knowledge base materials.
• Drive process improvements, automation, and performance optimization initiatives.
• Mentor and coach junior engineers and administrators to enhance team capability and performance.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in Windows Server administration and support.
• Minimum of 3 years in a lead or supervisory capacity within IT infrastructure or operations.

TECHNICAL SKILLS

Required:

• Strong expertise in Windows Server 2016/2019/2022 administration.
• Deep understanding of Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, and File Services.
• Hands-on experience with VMware vSphere / Hyper-V environments.
• Scripting proficiency using PowerShell for automation.
• Experience in system patching, hardening, and performance tuning.
• Knowledge of backup/recovery tools (e.g., Veeam, Commvault).

Preferred:

• Exposure to cloud environments (Azure, AWS).
• Experience with Microsoft System Center Suite (SCCM, SCOM).
• Familiarity with ITIL processes and change management frameworks.
• Experience in infrastructure migration and modernization projects.
