Immigration Paralegal

About the Role:

We are seeking an experienced Immigration Paralegal with a strong background in Australian immigration law and practice. The successful candidate will work closely with solicitors to provide paralegal and administrative support across a wide range of immigration matters. This role requires excellent drafting skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage client files and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Draft, prepare, and lodge visa applications, submissions, and supporting documents for various Australian visa categories (e.g., Partner, Skilled, Business, Student, Temporary, and Permanent visas).
• Conduct legal research and prepare briefs, forms, and supporting documentation in compliance with the Department of Home Affairs (DHA) requirements.
• Assist with client intake, fact-checking, and maintaining accurate client records.
• Liaise with clients, government authorities (including DHA), and other stakeholders to ensure smooth case progress.
• Monitor case timelines and visa lodgement deadlines, ensuring all submissions are made on time.
• Maintain case management systems such as LEAP, Smokeball, or Actionstep and ensure documents are up to date.
• Prepare invoices, manage billing records, and handle general administrative tasks as required.
• Provide support for client meetings, hearing preparation, and drafting legal correspondence.

Requirements:

• Proven experience working with an Australian law firm in immigration law (at least 1–2 years required).
• Strong knowledge of Australian immigration processes, DHA compliance, and lodgement procedures.
• Proficiency in legal practice management software (e.g., LEAP, Smokeball, Actionstep).
• Excellent written and spoken English with strong client communication skills.
• Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple cases and meet deadlines.
• High attention to detail, proactive, and able to work independently with minimal supervision.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Previous experience handling both temporary and permanent visa applications end-to-end.
• Experience supporting Australian solicitors directly.
