Job Summary
The Central Supply and Sterilization Department (CSSD) Technician is responsible for the preparation, set-up, maintenance, and storage of equipment and their corresponding accessories to ensure functionality and sterility in providing safe and quality patient care. He assists doctors and nurses in using equipment for surgical, diagnostic, and treatment procedures. He decontaminates equipment, instruments, and accessories. He also sterilizes instruments and equipment accessories and assists in the inventory of equipment and supplies.
Specific Duties & Responsibilities
- Sets up and operates equipment and instruments in the assigned area.
- Implements the manufacturers' recommendations on the proper use of the equipment.
- Troubleshoots minor technical issues and concerns, and reports to CSSD Supervisor when necessary.
- Reports to the Biomedical Engineering department all major technical issues
- Monitors functionality of equipment/instruments and established unit protocols.
- Reports and documents initial assessment of all equipment concerns (e.g., defective, needs replacement of consumable parts) to CSSD Supervisor.
- Assists the CSSD Supervisor in training and evaluation of newly hired Technicians upon request.
- Always performs hand hygiene strictly to achieve the hospital's hand hygiene goal of 100% compliance.
- Performs other duties that may be assigned or delegated by the CSSD Supervisor from time to time.
- Performs related tasks that may be assigned by the department.
Decontamination: CSSD Technicians are responsible for the thorough cleaning and decontamination of surgical instruments and medical equipment.
Inspection and Assembly: After decontamination, CSSD Technicians must inspect all items for damage or wear and assemble instrument sets for sterilization.
Sterilization: CSSD Technicians must operate sterilizers (steam and plasma), following manufacturer instructions and facility protocols to ensure proper function and record-keeping.
Storage and Distribution: CSSD Technicians manage sterile storage and are responsible for the accurate distribution of instruments and equipment to various departments.
Documentation: CSSD Technicians must maintain detailed records of sterilization cycles, equipment tests, and inventory checks.
Compliance: CSSD Technicians must adhere to all relevant health and safety guidelines and participate in ongoing training and education.
Quality Assurance: Interpreting manufacturer's IFUs (e.g. device inspection & testing, sterilizers), standards, regulations, policies & procedures, documentation & record keeping (e.g. management, area cleaning), quality/functionality testing processes (e.g. sterilizer, washer testing, high level disinfectant), familiarity with routine maintenance guides for equipment, and equipment tracking.
Infection Control: CSSD Technicians must perform all related tasks according to infection control policies and guidelines of the hospital.
Requirements:
CSSD Technician I
- Experience in a hospital setting is an advantage.
- TESDA local certification (6 months certification or 2-year diploma) is an advantage.
- Willing to be assigned in shifting/rotational schedule.
- With good work ethics and a high sense of urgency.
- Can lift 12 pounds of weight.
- Willing to work in Arca South, Taguig City
CSSD Technician II
- With relevant training and certifications in sterile processing.
- With TESDA local certification (6 months certification or 2-year diploma are accepted)
- 2-3 years hospital setting experience.
- Willing to be assigned in shifting/rotational schedule.
- With good work ethics and a high sense of urgency.
- Can lift 12 pounds of weight.
- Willing to work in Arca South, Taguig City
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: Php20, Php22,000.00 per month
