Plant Accountant

Key Responsibilities:1. General Accounting & Bookkeeping
- Record all financial transactions related to plant operations.
- Maintain accurate general ledger accounts related to manufacturing activities.
- Ensure proper classification and posting of plant expenses, assets, and liabilities.
- Handle month-end and year-end closing for the plant.
2. Cost Accounting & Variance Analysis
- Maintain and update standard cost structures for raw materials, labor, and overhead.
- Analyze actual production costs versus standard/budgeted costs.
- Investigate and report on cost variances, wastage, and inefficiencies.
- Coordinate with production and purchasing teams to validate cost changes.
3. Inventory Management
- Monitor raw materials, work-in-process (WIP), and finished goods inventory.
- Reconcile inventory balances between accounting system and physical count.
- Assist in periodic physical inventory counts and cycle counts.
- Account for inventory adjustments due to spoilage, shrinkage, or rework.
4. Financial Reporting
- Prepare and submit plant-level financial reports (P&L, inventory reports, cost summaries).
- Provide management with timely and accurate reports on plant performance and KPIs.
- Support group-level consolidation of financial reports.
5. Budgeting and Forecasting
- Assist in the preparation of plant budgets and forecasts.
- Monitor actual spending versus budget and provide variance explanations.
- Coordinate with plant and operations managers to ensure budget adherence.
6. Compliance & Internal Controls
- Ensure all accounting practices adhere to local laws, BIR regulations, and company policies.
- Implement and maintain internal controls over inventory, assets, and transactions.
- Assist during internal and external audits, providing necessary documents and support.
7. Support to Plant Operations
- Serve as a finance partner to the plant team by providing financial insights.
- Participate in process improvement initiatives to optimize costs and efficiency.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accountancy, Accounting Technology, or related course.
- At least 3–5 years of relevant experience in accounting, preferably in a manufacturing or food production environment.
- Strong background in cost accounting, inventory, and plant operations.
- Familiar with accounting systems and ERP software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, QuickBooks).
- Advanced MS Excel skills (pivot tables, formulas, charts, data analysis).
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- High attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills; able to work with operations teams.
- CPA license is an advantage but not required.
Preferred Experience:
- Experience in the food manufacturing industry (e.g., meat processing, bakery, beverages, etc.).
- Familiarity with BIR compliance, LGU requirements, and audit preparation.
- Knowledge of food safety requirements (e.g., HACCP, GMP) from a cost-impact perspective.
