Director of Nursing

BrightStar Care of Chicago is seeking a Director of Nursing (DON)
to lead our clinical team. The DON oversees all aspects of clinical care, ensuring quality, compliance, and excellence in service delivery. This role provides leadership and mentorship to field nurses while collaborating with branch leadership to support business growth and client satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise nursing staff, fostering a culture of professionalism and accountability.
• Provide care as defined within the scope of the state's nurse practice act.
• Conduct initial evaluation visits and regularly reassess client nursing and personal care needs.
• Develop and initiate Plans of Care, revising as needed to meet changing client needs.
• Counsel clients and families in meeting nursing and related care needs.
• Review clinical documentation for accuracy, compliance, and quality of care.
• Provide hands-on clinical support including assessments, infusions, medication setups, and other skilled services as required.
• Assess competency of clinical staff and assign personnel to ensure safe, high-quality, and continuous care.
• Partner with the Branch Director on Quality Improvement initiatives and regulatory compliance (IDPH, Joint Commission, BrightStar standards).
• Support recruitment, onboarding, training, and performance development of nursing staff.
• Provide field support when required.

Qualifications

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in Illinois
• Minimum 3 years of nursing and clinical leadership experience (home health or critical care preferred).
• Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
• Proficiency with electronic medical records and basic computer systems.
• Customer service orientation with the ability to balance multiple priorities.

Additional Information

• Local travel required within the Chicagoland service area (approx. 75% field, 25% office).
• Weekend availability when required.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $90, $110,000.00 per year
