Roles and Responsibilities

Job Objectives

  • Develop and implement safe, compliant and cost-effective packaging solutions.
  • Ensure packaging quality, compatibility and durability through testing, review and continuous improvement.
  • Support new product developments, sustainability initiatives, improvements and operational efficiencies through effective packaging designs.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (R&D, QA, Regulator, Procurement, Production, Logistics, Marketing and Studio) to align with market and operational needs.

Duties, Responsibilities and Authority

  • Troubleshoot new and existing packaging problems involving designs, materials and processes and provide creative, timely, and cost-effective solutions.
  • Participates in the development of artworks - ensuring that all required GHS symbols are incorporated and dimensional specifications are correct.
  • Analyze Pioneer products to determine physical characteristics of item, special handling, environmental and safety requirements, and types of materials required for packaging.
  • Establish standards and guidelines for supplier evaluation. Evaluate and select packaging suppliers/vendors; periodically conduct vendor reviews.
  • Participate in NPP team, to deliver new products to market.
  • Identify and implement cost saving initiatives related to packaging materials, labour, efficiency, transportation, and storage.
  • Work closely with product teams to optimize packaging supply base for cost, lead time, quality, regionalization, standardization, supply assurance, and compliance with customer, regulatory, and internal requirements.
  • Work with internal resources and packaging suppliers to achieve functional packaging goals.
  • Drive ISO initiatives by establishing packaging documentations in alignment with ISO 9001 and 14001 requirements.
  • Filing of ERP related transactions such as Revolving fund, Cash advance, stock withdrawals, replenishments and other packaging requirements in the ERP system

Qualifications and Education Requirements

Education:

Bachelor's degree in Packaging Engineering, Material Science or any related field.

Experience/ Expertise:

  • Minimum of 5+ years of experience in packaging design or engineering, preferably in Chemical, paint, adhesives or related industries
  • Knowledge of chemical compatibility with packaging materials
  • Familiarity with GHS labelling, UN/DOT/ADR/ packaging requirements, and ISO/ASTM packaging test standards.
