A Graphic Designer creates visual concepts, using software like Adobe Creative Suite, to communicate ideas for branding (logos, identity), digital media (websites, apps, social), and print (brochures, packaging) by selecting colors, fonts, and layouts, often collaborating with clients and marketing teams to meet project goals and deadlines.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Design & Creation: Develop logos, layouts, images, and illustrations for various media.
  2. Client Interaction: Meet with clients/directors to understand project scope, needs, and objectives.
  3. Software Proficiency: Utilize tools like Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign for editing and layout.
  4. Collaboration: Work with copywriters, marketing, and other creatives to align visuals with messaging.
  5. Concept Development: Translate ideas into visual drafts, choosing fonts, colors, and imagery.
  6. Revision: Incorporate feedback from clients and teams to refine designs.
  7. Brand Consistency: Maintain brand guidelines across all materials.
  8. Essential Skills Technical: Mastery of design software (Adobe Creative Suite), photo editing, layout.
  9. Creative: Strong visual composition, typography, color theory, and artistic flair.
  10. Communication: Excellent verbal and visual communication to present ideas.
  11. Project Management: Time management, meeting deadlines, managing multiple projects. Problem-Solving: Ability to translate complex messages into simple visuals.  Where They Work In-house for companies (marketing/advertising), Independent (freelance), and Design agencies.  Common Deliverables Branding: Logos, style guides, business cards.
  12. Digital: Websites (UI/UX), social media graphics, app interfaces. Print: Brochures, magazines, packaging, advertisements. Other: Signage, video game assets, presentations.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in graphic design, art, or related discipline
  • Three or more years of experience in professional graphic design, preferably with a creative or marketing agency
  • Five or more years of experience (academic and professional) with design software, including Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop, Dreamweaver
  • Working knowledge of CSS3, HTML5, and JavaScript Knowledge of WordPress and content management systems
  • Photography experience and proficiency with photo-editing software
  • Exceptional creativity and innovative design skills
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Organizational and time-management skills for meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Desire to continue building skill set with education and training
