We are looking for a dedicated and skilled Manager to lead our software development team and support collaboration with our Japanese counterparts. This role involves managing team operations, supporting members in their projects, facilitating communication with Japan, and driving process improvements.

We are seeking a Manager with background in software development, experience working with Japanese clients or companies, and is capable of managing both people and processes effectively.

Key Responsibilities

As the Manager, you will oversee both strategic people management and essential project support, ensuring team efficiency and strong communication with our Japanese counterparts.

Team Management and Development

  • Leadership and Guidance: Directly manage and mentor a team of approximately 10 software development professionals, fostering a collaborative, high-performance work environment.
  • Performance Evaluation: Conduct regular team evaluations, provide constructive feedback, and handle related performance improvement discussions.
  • Process Improvement: Plan and propose improvements to team processes and workflows to maximize efficiency and quality.
  • Administrative Oversight: Accurately track and manage team attendance and related administrative tasks.

Recruitment and Hiring

  • End-to-End Hiring: Manage hiring process for team openings, including preparing job posts, candidate screening, scheduling and conducting interviews, evaluation, and coordinating the final job offer arrangement.

Cross-Cultural Communication and Project Support

  • Bridging Communication: Support project communication between the local team and our Japanese stakeholders. This includes interpreting and clarifying project requirements, updates, and feedback.
  • Project Assistance: Step in to support members on development projects when technical guidance or additional resources are needed.
Requirements

To excel in this role, candidates must demonstrate a blend of technical experience, managerial skills, and cultural fluency.

Required Experience and Background

  • Educational Attainment: Candidate must possess at least a Bachelor's/College Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or Computer Engineering.
  • Technical Background: A solid background and hands-on experience in software development is essential to effectively guide and support the technical team.
  • Japanese Business Acumen: Demonstrated experience working with Japanese companies or clients is required. You need to understand the nuances of Japanese business culture, communication styles, and client expectations.
  • Leadership: Proven managerial leadership experience, specifically leading a technical or software development team.

Language and Communication

  • Japanese Language: Proficiency in the Japanese language, demonstrated by at least JLPT N3 certification. Higher proficiency is a significant advantage.
  • Communication Skills: Must have good verbal and written communicationskills.
