About the RoleWe are seeking an experienced Tax Accountant based in the Philippines to join our dynamic Australian accounting firm. This is an exceptional opportunity for a qualified professional with Australian tax experience to advance their career while working with a progressive Sydney-based firm.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare individual income tax returns for Australian clients
  • Complete company tax returns and financial statements
  • Prepare business activity statements and capital gains tax schedules
  • Handle tax returns involving investment properties and rental income
  • Assist with complex tax compliance matters
  • Support and potentially manage the tax team as the role develops
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of Australian taxation legislation
  • Utilize XPM and Xero for client management and accounting processes

Essential Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years Australian tax experience working with an Australian accounting firm
  • XPM (Xero Practice Manager) experience - MUST HAVE
  • Xero accounting software experience - MUST HAVE
  • Strong technical knowledge of Australian taxation law - ESSENTIAL
  • Proven experience preparing Australian individual and company tax returns
  • Deep understanding of Australian taxation law and compliance requirements
  • Experience with investment property taxation and capital gains tax
  • Proficiency in preparing business schedules and financial statements
  • Technical expertise in complex tax calculations and legislation interpretation
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong communication skills in English (written and verbal)
  • Relevant accounting qualifications

Technical Skills Required

  • Advanced knowledge of Australian Tax Office requirements and procedures
  • Proficiency in tax software and practice management systems
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to interpret and apply complex tax legislation
  • Experience with tax planning and advisory services
  • Knowledge of GST, FBT, and other Australian tax obligations
