About the Role

Own the design and evolution of a clustered, high-throughput API Gateway that fronts core enterprise systems. You'll shape routing, traffic controls, caching, observability, and integrations that keep reservation experiences fast and reliable. Full-time, WFH within the Philippines; mid-shift/US-overlap; 13th-month, HMO (employee), WFH equipment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and implement gateway features: content-based routing, dynamic rate limiting/flow control, and payload validation.
  • Build traffic capture and analytics pipelines; persist API metadata for insights.
  • Engineer for resiliency and performance in clustered environments (HA, active/passive DB, load-balancers).
  • Implement distributed caching and configuration management.
  • Drive observability with Prometheus/Grafana, metrics, alerting, and load/soak tests.
  • Collaborate on integration to IBM mainframe systems (e.g., through transaction gateways) while offloading parsing/validation where appropriate.
Required Skills & Experience
  • 5+ years building high-performance back-end systems; Go preferred (Java acceptable).
  • Deep understanding of concurrency, streaming/messaging, and low-latency networking.
  • Strong with Docker and container orchestration (Kubernetes or Swarm), HTTP proxies/reverse proxies.
  • Experience with Prometheus/Grafana, Kafka, PostgreSQL/Oracle/DB2, and distributed caching.
  • Familiarity with secure API design (authZ/authN, API keys, token flows); CI/CD.
  • BS in CS/IT or related field (minimum).
Nice-to-Have Extras
  • gRPC, schema validation (e.g., XML schema), and rules-based routing.
  • Experience with load testing frameworks and performance tuning at scale.
