Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled GIS Specialist to support the development and implementation of major hydropower and offshore wind energy projects. The ideal candidate will leverage geospatial technologies to analyze site data, optimize project layouts, assess environmental impacts, and ensure regulatory compliance. This role requires strong analytical skills, experience in renewable energy sectors, and the ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including engineers, environmental scientists, and project managers.
Key Qualifications & Skills:
- Bachelor's or master's degree in Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Geography, Environmental Science, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
- 3+ years of professional experience in GIS applications, preferably in renewable energy, hydropower, or offshore wind sectors.
- Proficiency in GIS software (e.g., ArcGIS Pro, QGIS, ENVI) and related tools (e.g., Python scripting, SQL for spatial databases).
- Strong understanding of geospatial data sources (e.g., GEBCO for bathymetry, NOAA datasets) and analysis techniques (e.g., raster/vector processing, 3D modeling).
- Familiarity with hydropower and offshore wind project lifecycles, including site assessment and environmental regulations.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to present complex data.
- Certification in GIS (e.g., GISP) or related fields.
- Experience with remote sensing, drone surveys, or integration of GIS with CAD/BIM for engineering projects.
- Willingness to travel for site visits or fieldwork in coastal/marine environments.
