Role Description

1. Performs diagnostic radiological services such as;

2. Operates Ultrasound machine according to its specification and function and other radiology machine such as: X-ray and CT-scan machines

3. Positions/immobilizes patient as necessary.
4. Practices radiation protection techniques and aseptic technique as necessary.

5. Communicate calmly, compassionately, and professionally with all different types of patients including the elderly, ailing, pediatrics, and differently abled.

6. Report on duty in accordance with approved work schedule including rotating shift.

7. Performs various General Ultrasound examination procedures such as whole abdomen (upper and lower), KUB with prostate, KUB with pelvic, HBT and spleen.

8. Assist the Sonologist/Consultant during examination (small parts) such as thyroid, breast, inguinoscrotal and soft tissue as well as chest and chest mapping ultrasound.

9. Assist the Sonologist/Consultant in special procedures such as guided thoracentesis and paracentesis.

10. Assist the OB Sonologist during examination such as 1st, 2nd and 3rd trimester OB scan, pelvic, transvaginal, transrectal, Hysterosalpingosonogram and Saline Infusion Sonohysterogram.

11. Performs General Radiography procedures namely:

13. Chest and Thoracic Cage
14. Vertebrae and Pelvis
15. Upper and Lower Extremities
16. Abdomen

17. Intra-operative and Bedside X-ray

18. Responsible for CT-scan procedures using Philips Access CT 16 slice, Apollo-RT APO100 Contrast media injector, and Philips Intellispace Portal V9.0.1.

19. Assumes responsibility within the assigned section of the department.

20. Operates BizBox Health Information System 8.0 and BizBox Material Management System 8.0

21. Responsible for portions of quality assurance and quality control program.

22. Instructs patient as to patient preparation and schedule the same and pre-scheduled walk-in patient accordingly.

23. Establish rapport through communication with critical thinking and give quality patient care during and after the procedure.

24. Maintains radiology supplies inventory by checking stock and anticipating needed supplies.

25. In the absences of the Chief Radiologic Technologist; considers acting supervisory staff.

26. Assists the Radiologist during reading of Ultrasound, X-ray and CT-scan images.

27. Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.

28. Performs other task that maybe assigned by the superior from time to time.

Qualifications

1. Education:

2. Graduate of Bachelor of Science in Radiologic Technologist with validated license issued by the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) of the Philippines.

6. Skills:

7. Can follow oral and written instructions stated in radiology and medical terms to exchange information with patients and other hospital staff.

8. Arithmetic skills to factor manually the machine for a clearer radiograph result.
9. Can read Ultrasound results and can visualize relationships of internal organs.
10. Can read X-ray and CT-scan images and can visualize relationships of internal organs in relation to x-ray tube in order to obtain radiographs of diagnostic value.
11. Capable of perceiving pertinent detail in technique charts and instructions relating to specific radiologic procedures to be carried out.
12. Able to perceive details in Ultrasound to determine acceptability of exposure.
13. Has interest for scientific and technical activities to master principles, techniques, and procedures of radiology.
14. Must be physically and mentally fit and possess pleasing personality with moral and ethical behavior.
15. Has interest for scientific and technical activities to master principles, techniques, and procedures of radiology.
