Job Summary:
The Second Cook assists the Head Chef and First Cook in preparing, cooking, and presenting high-quality food in a timely manner. This role ensures that food safety, hygiene, and kitchen standards are strictly followed while maintaining efficiency in operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in food preparation, cooking, and plating according to company standards and recipes.
- Ensure proper handling, storage, and rotation of food items (FIFO).
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen, equipment, and work areas at all times.
- Support in checking ingredients, supplies, and stock levels needed for daily operations.
- Follow strict food safety and sanitation guidelines (HACCP standards).
- Work collaboratively with the kitchen team to ensure smooth and efficient service.
- Assist in training and guiding kitchen assistants, stewards, or trainees when required.
- Handle kitchen tools and equipment safely and report any malfunctions immediately.
- Uphold company values of luxury service, integrity, and innovation in food preparation.
- Perform other duties assigned by the Head Chef or First Cook
Qualifications:
- At least 1 year of experience as a kitchen staff, commis, or cook
- Knowledge of basic cooking methods, kitchen operations, and food safety standards
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
- Strong teamwork, communication, and time-management skills
- Flexibility to work on shifting schedules, weekends, and holidays
- TESDA NCII in Cookery (preferred but not required)
