Gardener

Skills and Qualifications:

• Knowledge of Horticulture: Basic understanding of plant biology, soil types, and garden care.
• Physical Stamina: Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions, often requiring bending, lifting, and extended hours of manual labor.
• Attention to Detail: Ability to spot signs of plant diseases, pests, and other garden issues early on.
• Technical Skills: Knowledge of how to use gardening tools and machinery (e.g., lawnmowers, trimmers, irrigation systems).
• Pest and Disease Knowledge: Understanding how to manage and treat common garden pests and plant diseases.
• Creativity: Ability to assist in garden design and layout, including knowledge of plant combinations for aesthetic value.

Key Responsibilities:

Planting and Maintenance:

• Planting flowers, trees, shrubs, and other vegetation.
• Ensuring the health of plants by watering, pruning, and fertilizing as needed.
• Preparing soil, adding compost, and performing other soil-related tasks to enhance plant growth

Landscape Maintenance:

• Mowing lawns, trimming hedges, and cutting grass.
• Maintaining the overall appearance of outdoor spaces by ensuring proper trimming, weeding, and removing dead plants.
• Keeping paths and walkways clean and free from debris.

Pest and Disease Management:

• Identifying common plant diseases, pests, and weeds.
• Applying pesticides, herbicides, and fungicides as needed (following safety protocols).

Garden Design

• Ensuring that gardening tools and equipment are clean and in good working order.
• Collecting garden waste and ensuring disposal in an environmentally responsible manner.
