About the Role
We are seeking a Cantonese-speaking Accountant to join our growing team. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting our clients with their day-to-day accounting operations, ensuring accurate financial reporting, and maintaining compliance with relevant standards and regulations. This role involves working closely with international clients, particularly those from Cantonese-speaking regions, so fluency in both Cantonese and English is essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform day-to-day accounting tasks including data entry, journal entries, reconciliations, and month-end closing.
- Prepare and maintain accurate financial records, ledgers, and reports.
- Handle accounts payable and receivable, expense management, and bank reconciliations.
- Prepare financial statements and management reports in accordance with applicable accounting standards.
- Communicate effectively with Cantonese-speaking clients to clarify accounting issues, gather documentation, and provide updates.
- Assist in tax computations, filings, and compliance activities as required.
- Coordinate with internal teams and external auditors as needed.
- Ensure confidentiality and integrity of all financial information handled.
- Contribute to process improvements and support implementation of accounting systems or tools.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- At least 2–3 years of relevant accounting experience (preferably with exposure to international clients or outsourcing firms).
- Fluency in Cantonese and English (both written and spoken) is required.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Xero, QuickBooks, SAP, or similar).
- Strong understanding of basic accounting principles and financial reporting.
- Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to meet deadlines.
- Strong communication skills and client service orientation.
- CPA or equivalent certification is an advantage.
- Must be able to work from home with a reliable internet connection and a professional remote setup.
- Comfortable working as an independent contractor, managing tasks with minimal supervision.
