The Plant Hygienist main functions are to review and update existing standards on utilities - air, water & energy, product contact material (PCM) and environmental monitoring program (EMP), ensure that plant sanitation procedures are effectively validated and implemented; and perform verification of implemented sanitation procedures through any applicable chemical and/or microbiological testing of processing areas, equipment, and plant facilities.
Minimum Qualifications/ Experiences:
- Candidate must possess at least a Bachelor's/College Degree in BS Microbiology, Biology or Food Science, Preferably Licensed Microbiologist
- With at least 3 years' of considerable work experience in food manufacturing handling or having awareness of GMP, SSOP, and other cleaning and sanitation activities.
- Detail oriented. Has passion for continuous learning. Exceptional documentation skills and writing skills are a must. Can interact with people in all levels of the organization; Integrity and professional ethics; and and can work with minimal supervision,
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Reviewing existing Environment Monitoring Program, observe the actual implementation in the operations, collect data and list down all significant observations. Analyze data and provide recommendations and improvements on Environment Monitoring Programs documentation (including Risk and Hazard Assessment), implementation, practices, resources and personnel training guided by the objective of program effectiveness and efficiency.
- Guided by the established GMP Manual, SSOPs, knowledge on equipment cleaning through equipment operational manual and/or results of equipment commissioning and supplier training activities, coordinate with Senior Plant Sanitation Specialist and design, document and implement sanitation procedures for existing and new equipment in the operations. Perform personnel training and/or awareness seminars if necessary.
- Having the awareness of the requirements of the established Food Safety Management System, experience in performing microbiological sampling and applicable regulatory, statutory or institutional standards, implementing monitoring and verification activities for utilities - water, air, and energy, equipment suitability, cleaning and maintenance and environmental monitoring through any applicable microbiological practices and/or procedures (e.g. swabbing).
- In reference to program targets and performance indicators, perform monitoring and verification activities ensuring sanitation program effectiveness of Utilities, Equipment suitability, cleaning and maintenance and Envi monitoring. Generate performance report which may include data tables, graphs and charts, significant finding from performed verification activities, evaluation and analysis and recommendations for program improvements.
- Equipped with knowledge on Microbiology, review third party microbiological test reports in reference to any applicable microbiological principles and regulatory standards. For any failed results, analyze the occurrence, investigate on the probable cause and provide recommendations for program improvements.
- Having the knowledge of Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points and FSSC 22000 requirements specific to the significance of effective CCPs and OPRPs, perform validation testing of all sanitation control measures prior implementation. Recommend process parameter improvements if necessary and create a Validation report as input for the creation and updating of control measure monitoring procedure and an objective evidence during any internal and/or external audits; review and update risk assessment and hazard identification for the environmental monitoring program.
- Ensuring to follow the Plan-Do-Check-Act (PDCA) and/or Standardize-do-Check-Act (SDCA) model, continuously improve Plant Sanitation standards, specifications and/or procedures using audit and verification results as inputs, specific to SSOP and Environmental monitoring.
