Exin Therapeutics is a San Francisco–based biotech building its experimental hub in Manila. We develop therapies to restore balance in brain circuits disrupted in neurological and psychiatric disorders, including epilepsy, and Parkinson's disease. Our Manila lab is the cornerstone of large-scale in vivo neuroscience and data generation that powers our discovery platform.
Role & Responsibilities As our Neurotechnician, you'll be the backbone of day-to-day animal care and lab operations. You will:
- Perform daily husbandry for mice/rats: cage changes, feeding/watering, enrichment, health/wellness checks, and room sanitation according to approved procedures.
- Maintain a clean, well-stocked vivarium and lab: autoclave/sterilize cages and tools, manage waste streams, track inventory of chow, bedding, PPE, and supplies.
- Support colony management: sexing, weaning, basic ID, and accurate electronic record-keeping; coordinate with scientists on schedules and counts.
- Receive and acclimate animal shipments; monitor room environmental parameters (temp, humidity, light cycles) and report issues promptly.
- Assist research days logistically (animal transfers, weighing, basic handling) while ensuring welfare and compliance; no survival surgeries.
- Keep lab spaces running: restock consumables, run glasswash/autoclave cycles, calibrate basic equipment, and help with simple solution preps.
- Document everything with rigor (daily logs, health notes, checklists) and support biosafety/animal-welfare compliance.
- Participate in early-morning/rotating weekend/holiday duties.
Qualifications Required:
- HS diploma with 1–2 years in an animal facility or BS in a life-science field.
- Comfort working with mice/rats and a compassionate, welfare-first mindset.
- Familiarity with standard husbandry, sanitation, and PPE/biosafety practices.
- Excellent organization and record-keeping; basic computer skills (Google Sheets/Docs).
- Ability to lift ~10-20 kg, stand for extended periods, and perform repetitive tasks reliably.
- Willingness to work early shifts and rotating weekends/holidays.
- Good communication skills in English.
Preferred:
- AALAS ALAT (or equivalent) and experience in AAALAC/IACUC-governed facilities.
- Experience with colony workflows (breeding schedules, weaning/sexing, inventory).
- Lab operations skills (autoclave, glasswash, buffer prep, inventory systems).
- Basic data skills (Excel/Python) for logs and simple summaries.
- Startup or fast-paced R&D experience.
Why Join Us?
- Be the operational heartbeat of a cutting-edge neuroscience lab from day one.
- Clear growth paths (Colony Manager, Research Assistant, Lab Ops Lead).
- Competitive compensation.
- Help build a first-of-its-kind neuroscience R&D hub in Southeast Asia and contribute to therapies aimed at curing devastating brain disorders.
